What are Vuity™ Eyedrops, and How Can They Help my Vision?

Dr. Josiah Young of our Northern Kentucky office was interviewed by Fox19 News on May 12, 2022 to find out more about Vuity eye drops.

Are you tired of wearing reading glasses? Do you put your glasses down and then frantically search your house to find them — just to quickly read a label or check your caller-ID?

If so, Vuity eye drops may be the solution you’ve been seeking.

Why Does Aging Cause Blurry Vision?

An estimated 128 million Americans above the age of 40 are living with age-related farsightedness, a condition called presbyopia.

Presbyopia is a common refractive error that occurs as the natural lens in the eye begins to harden. As the lens stiffens, it loses its ability to focus on near objects, resulting in blurry vision.

Presbyopia can get worse with time, and your ability to see near objects, such as the text in a book or magazine, the images on your cell phone or even a restaurant menu, may become impossible, especially in low-light environments.

Symptoms of Presbyopia

If you’re in your 40s, you may be experiencing some of the most common signs and symptoms of presbyopia:

  • Trouble seeing images, numbers or text on your phone
  • Blurriness when looking at a computer screen
  • Difficulty reading
  • Excessive squinting
  • Frequently holding objects at arm’s length
  • Requiring brighter light to improve visual clarity

Holding objects at arm’s length and using brighter lighting may help to improve your visual clarity in the interim, but they’re not a long-term solution.

Presbyopia can be corrected with reading glasses, bifocals or progressive lenses. But unless you wear your eyewear all day long, keeping track of your reading glasses can get frustrating, especially if you forget to keep a spare pair in your purse or briefcase. Eyewear can also fog up, especially when wearing a face mask.

The eyecare industry understands you and your needs. This is how Vuity came to be.

What Is Vuity?

women drop about 615×427 (1)Vuity is the first and only FDA- approved prescription eye drop to treat age-related blurry vision.

The eye drops work by stimulating muscle contraction in the iris, the colored part of the eye that surrounds your pupil. The muscles in the iris contract and relax to widen and narrow the pupil, depending on the amount of light entering the eye.

Inserting Vuity eye drops into the eye temporarily reduces the size of the pupil, improving near focusing ability while maintaining clear distance vision.

Vuity eye drops are delivered with proprietary technology that enables them to quickly adjust to the natural pH of your tear film, making Vuity both convenient and comfortable.

How Long Does it Take to See Results?

Improved near vision is typically noticed within 15 minutes of eye drop administration, and the effects generally last up to 6 hours. Keep in mind that it can take around 30 days to experience optimal results.

How Effective Is Vuity?

In two clinical studies, 750 people with presbyopia were assessed to determine the efficacy of Vuity eye drops. Half the participants were given Vuity to treat their blurred vision, and the other half received a placebo eye drop.

After a 30-day trial, those who received Vuity showed a significant improvement in near vision clarity, especially in low-light conditions. The studies also found that Vuity had no impact on distance vision clarity.

During the three-month trial, Vuity worked best in people aged 40-55, and side effects included headaches and red eyes.
