Newport

Newport, KY is not just the beautiful riverfront with an amazing view of the Cincinnati and a home to attractions such as the Newport Aquarium, the East Row Historic District and the historic downtown. Newport is a vibrant city and a local community that Opticare Vision Center is proud to serve for over 40 years. You’ll recognize our office by the colorful mural on the side of the building.

Our Eye Care Services

Over the years our eye doctors have treated thousands of patients who first came to our practice as children or pre-schoolers for their pediatric eye care and later continued to visit our eye care clinic for eye exams, contact lens fittings, vision correction consultations, and eye emergencies. Our office was the beginning of the Baby Piper glasses phenomenon. Her smile when seeing her mother for the first time now has over 46 million views. It all started with an infant eye exam with Dr. Young in the Newport office. Be sure to have your child’s eyes examined early!

Advanced Technologies

As a leading optometry practice in Northern Kentucky, our eye doctors are always up-to-date with the latest technologies and innovations. Our team uses the latest technologies in the eye care industry to offer accurate and painless diagnosis for eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. Eye care experts at Opticare Vision Center use OCT Scans to scan your retina and assess your eyes for early signs of eye diseases. The images allow your eye doctor to detect and treat eye diseases that can cause blindness. We have the ability to do advanced cosmetic procedures in-house, including removing a bump on the eyelid. To sterilize the instruments use in such procedures, we invested in an autoclave which uses steam refresher.

Eye Exams in Newport, KY

Many of our patients choose to visit us with their entire family. We specialize in pediatric eye health and vision exams and vision therapy as well as vision testing for adults. Our eye doctors take the time to explain the testing and treatment options at your visit. Even a routine eye exam at our professional eye care practice can detect early signs of eye conditions even before they affect your vision. You’ll be surprised to learn how many cases of vision loss can be prevented by a simple eye examination performed once a year.

Call 859-491-1010 to schedule your eye exam at Opticare Vision Center today!

Contact Lenses and Eyewear Selection

We have over 900 designer frames, sunglasses and eyewear at our optical boutique in Newport. Our opticians have years of experience in helping our patients pick the right pair of glasses and stylish frames, that flatter their hair color, skin complexion, and face type.
Don’t forget to purchase a pair of sunglasses! Your eyes need maximum protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Polarized lenses offer 100% UV protection, while providing you with a clear, glare free vision outdoors.

Surgical Procedures

NEW: At our Newport office, we now offer the following procedures:

  • Treatment and removal of styes or chalazion
  • Removal of skin tags or small bumps around the eyes
  • Removal of moles around the eyes
  • Removal of problem eyelashes that grow toward the eye

For these procedures we use the Ellman Surgitron device – a blade-less technique called radio-frequency surgery. It uses radio waves to gently remove tissue, which minimizes bleeding and has less scarring.

Newport Office Directions

From the North – Take I-471 South to exit 3. Turn right onto Carothers Road. From the South – Take I-471 North to exit 3. Follow the bend onto Carothers Road. Stay on Carothers Road past Target and Chic-fil-A. You can’t miss our large eye chart mural on the side of our building on the right side. We’re right between Firestone and Wendy’s.

The Newport office has been in the same neighborhood for over 30 years. We’ve seen the landscape of Carothers Road change, with the most recent improvements to the Newport Pavilion and Newport Shopping Center.

The addition of the mural (thanks to Cincinnati’s Higher Level Art) to the east facing side of our building added some color to the retail landscape (and made finding us easier!).

We pride ourselves on providing professional eye care using the latest technology with a personal touch. We have seen families grow and bring their children and grandchildren to see us. We’re proud to be your local eye doctor’s office and a part of the community.

If you or your pediatrician see any signs of development delays in eye/body coordination skills, motor skills or reading, you should visit our Harrison optometrist for a pediatric eye exam.

Ocular Diseases Management

Many of our patients, who are in their 40’s or 50’s report that they see much worst then 10 or 20 years ago. That’s a natural process and indeed many eye conditions happen when our eyes age. That’s why it’s crucial to visit your optometrist more frequently when you reach 40’s. Cataracts, macular degeneration or glaucoma are very common eye conditions that can cause a severe vision lose if left untreated. If detected in early stages, these conditions can be managed without any surgery.
